According to Article 42 of the Minerals law and Resolution No. 179 of the Government of Mongolia, “Darkhan Metallurgical Plant” LLC actively collaborates with local administrative authorities to uphold environmental protection, implement responsible mining practices, advance industrial infrastructure, and generate employment opportunities. As part of this initiative, cooperation agreements have been established with the Governor’s office of Khuder Soum, Selenge Province since 2011, and with the Governor’s office of Hongor Sum, Darkhan-Uul Province since 2009, recpectively. The implementation of the 2023-2024 agreement was assessed by both parties, with a progress evaluation of 96%. The company adheres a policy of procuring goods from both local enterprises and citizens in alignment with its commitment to sustainable local development and economic support, prioritizing collaboration based on the principle of fair competition.
Furthermore, measures are being implemented to offer professional training and create employment opportunities for local residents. As a result, 16% of the company’s workforce consists of local employees, and their salaries, bonuses, and social benefits contribute positively to the local economy. The company is committed to advancing sustainable local development as part of its corporate social responsibility and will further expand its cooperation in this regard.
