It is connected to the Darhan Metallurgical Plant by a 28 km upgraded road. A paved highway leading to the northern border of Mongolia passes just 17 km to the west of the deposit. Additionally, the Ulaanbaatar-Sukhbaatar railway line is located 20 km east of the deposit, while a branch line that connects Darhan city to the Sharyn Gol coal mine passes 8 km to the south. The Tumurtolgoi ore deposit is located in the 2nd district of Khongor soum, Darkhan-Uul province and consists of seven ore bodies.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;2894&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221; css_params=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221; css_params=&#8221;&#8221;]The mine holds license number MV-010738, with a total area of 424 hectares. The Geological Exploration Unit No. 332 conducted exploration activities aimed at supplying raw materials to the metallurgical industry and uncovering mineral resources. As a result, the Tumurtolgoi deposit was discovered and registered in the state\u2019s treasury between April 1960 and June 1962. The mine officially began operations on August 17, 2009, with the start of open-pit extraction.<\/p>\n<p>The Tumurtolgoi mining operation includes an open-pit mine, a dry magnetic beneficiation plant, and a maintenance center. The mine has the capacity to extract and process 2 million tons of iron ore annually. Utilizing advanced, high-capacity equipment, the mine operates with a workforce of approximately 460 personnel working in a 20\/10 shift pattern.<\/p>\n<p>The beneficiation plant No. 1 is equipped with technology from the German and Chinese joint venture SANME. It has a processing capacity of 500 tons of ore per hour, or 2 million tons per year. The beneficiation process involves three stages of crushing, after which the ore is sorted into particle sizes of 0-(10) mm and +10-(40) mm.
